Jack was born on June 16, 1936, in Gaylord, Minnesota, to Letha (Schmidt) and John Hyzer. Jack attended Macalester College and graduated from the University of Minnesota. Jack was in the US Military, serving in the army in Ft. Smith, Arkansas and Germany.

He was married to Beverly Waller in 1957; they had two daughters, Rebecca Ann Hyzer (deceased in 2008) and Melissa Kay Devine from Nacogdoches, Texas. Jack worked for IDS in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and then moved to Morris Township, New Jersey, where he worked on Wall Street as a financial analyst....

Jack worked for IDS in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and then moved to Morris Township, New Jersey, where he worked on Wall Street as a financial analyst. He then moved to Dallas, Texas, where he was Research Director at Rauscher Pierce and later opened his own business, Hyzer Investments, in Dallas. Jack and Bev moved to Windsor Lakes in The Woodlands in 2006.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Beverly; his daughter, Melissa DeVine of Nacogdoches, Texas; brothers-in-law, Roger Waller (Sandy) of Seaside, Oregon, and Steve Waller (Julie) of The Villages, Florida; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Smithlin (Dick) of Champlin, Minnesota, and Sue Heimerl (Bill) of Richfield, Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews, and friends (especially Norb DeVine and Raymond Kuehler).

A memorial service is being planned for a future date.
